Anika Noni Rose is an American actress and singer. Best known as the voice of Tiana In The Princess and the Frog, the first African American Disney Princess. Disney named her a legend in the year 2011. Rose played Lorrell Robinson, from the Academy Award winning film Dreamgirls. Anika Noni Rose (born on September 6, 1972) is an American actor and a singer. Her most well-known role is playing Tiana Disney's first princess of African descent as she appeared in The Princess and the Frog (2009). She was named a Disney Legend in 2011. She's also well-known for her roles as Lorrell in Dreamgirls which was an Academy Award winning film (2006) and LaVerne in Starz's Power. The stage performances she has performed are also well-known, including her performances in the role of Emmie Thbodeaux and as the character in The Broadway production of the musical Caroline or Change (2004) that earned her an award for the Tony Award Best Featured actress in an Musical. Her nomination was for an award for the Tony Award Best Featured actor in a play for the Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun.
